Fengtu Farmland Weather Station: Enabling "Cloud-Connected" Agriculture and Informed Field Management

Technology empowers agriculture. The Farmland Weather Station under Fengtu has successfully brought agriculture "to the cloud" and made field management "sharp-eared and sharp-eyed" ever since.

Fengtu Farmland Weather Station consists of five components: meteorological sensors, a data collector, a solar power supply system, a pole bracket, and a cloud platform. The meteorological sensors can accurately collect various meteorological data such as ambient temperature, humidity, light intensity, rainfall, wind speed, wind direction, soil temperature and humidity, and atmospheric pressure. They can complete the collection and storage of a set of data every few minutes. The collector is responsible for summarizing and processing these data, the solar power supply system ensures the operation of the equipment, and the pole bracket stably installs the equipment in the field. The cloud platform, as the core hub for data aggregation and interaction, allows people to check real-time data online via web pages or mobile phones regardless of their location.

The so-called agriculture "going to the cloud" refers to uploading various data generated during agricultural production to the cloud with the help of technologies such as cloud computing and the Internet of Things, so as to realize data storage, analysis, and sharing. The Farmland Weather Station serves as a tool for data collection. A certain region has deployed 38 smart agricultural meteorological automatic observation stations (farmland microclimate stations) and 6 sets of farmland digital monitoring systems in major new plum planting bases. These devices transmit real-time dynamic data on meteorology, soil moisture, and pest conditions to the cloud. By simply tapping their mobile phones, fruit farmers can realize precise irrigation and scientific fertilization based on cloud data, transforming the traditional "relying on the weather for food" into "knowing the weather and working accordingly".

With the Farmland Weather Station helping agriculture "go to the cloud", field management has become "sharp-eared and sharp-eyed". In a wheat planting base, high-precision sensors laid in the fields transmit real-time data such as soil moisture content, temperature, and pH value. Managers can clearly grasp the "health records" of the plots through a mobile APP, apply fertilizers precisely, and significantly reduce fertilizer usage. When the data generated by the meteorological observation stations is imported into the cloud platform in real time via 5G networks, meteorological technicians can retrieve exclusive meteorological records of different wheat varieties during each growth period, providing scientific guidance for seed breeding enterprises. When meteorological disasters such as heavy rains, droughts, or high temperatures strike, or when there are potential risks of diseases and pests, early warning information based on the data from the observation stations can help farmers take timely preventive measures and reduce losses.

Fengtu Farmland Weather Station has made agriculture "going to the cloud" a reality. It provides rich and accurate data support for field management, enabling agricultural production to move forward in a more scientific, efficient, and intelligent direction.
